Rosalie's got the write stuff
Two highlights of Rosalie Cobai's time at ECU whilst studying for her Journalism degree, was completing the professional placement unit and winning the Sunday Times Prize for Journalism award.
"Both provided me with a foot in the door to a career in journalism," she says as they led her to jobs at the Community Newspaper Group and the Sunday Times.
This experience helped her to secure a job as a media officer with the Attorney General and Minister for Health Jim McGinty. After two years in the job, Rosalie was promoted to the position of media officer for the Premier Alan Carpenter, a position she has held for the past year and which she enjoys immensely.
"In this role, I am responsible for organising and managing the Premier's media events, as well as write his media statements, speeches and handle media inquiries."
Rosalie chose to study at ECU because she liked the way the Journalism degree was structured and how it covered all aspects of print, radio and TV journalism.
"It was also easy to combine journalism with a degree in history, which was my favourite area of study," says Rosalie.
