ECU Great Careers

In addition to existing entry pathways including TER entry, mature age entry and completed studies at TAFE, ECU now offers a portfolio entry pathway. This pathway assesses applicants based on a portfolio of evidence showing their ability to succeed in higher education. Portfolio entry caters for:

  • the increasing number of students who do wholly school-assessed (WSA) subjects or a combination of WSA subjects with TEE subjects;
  • mature age students; and
  • students who fall just below the TER or STAT minimum cut off scores for direct entry.

Students entering through alternate entry pathways have been found to have similar rates of success to those students gaining entry with TERs. This suggests that it is appropriate to use additional entry options when selecting students for admission .

For further information on the Portfolio entry pathway, visit ecugreatcareers.com/admission/portfolio.htm. To determine if this is the best pathway for you, visit ecugreatcareers.com/admission.

Want to earn $4000 per year to study at university

On Wednesday 28 December, your TEE results will be available on TISCLine/web and through the mail. Whilst the majority of ECU will be closed for the Christmas break from 22 December until 4 January (inclusive), ECU student advisers will be available from 28-30 December to speak to students and parents about their TISC preferences or alternative entry pathways.

So if you're confused about your options or what you should do, contact our Student Recruitment team on (61 8) 6304 6304. Alternatively, you can attend the TEE Advice Day being held at Murdoch University on Tuesday 3 January 2006.

All WA Universities will be represented on this day to offer advice from 9am-7pm. Students should bring their Universities Advice Letter, their Curriculum Council results and if you are really well organised, a bottle of water and a good book.

As a qualified and experienced nurse, you can now apply for a Postgraduate Diploma of Midwifery at ECU. Commonwealth supported places are available for suitably qualified applicants seeking admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery at Edith Cowan University.

This 12 month course combines theoretical study with clinical practice. Graduates will meet the Australian College of Midwives' Competency Standards and will be eligible to register as a midwife in Division One of the register of the Nurses Board of Western Australia.

So if you'd like to give your nursing career one mighty push, call (61 8) 9273 8534, e-mail snmpm@ecu.edu.au or visit snmpm.ecu.edu.au.

If fast cars and racetrack action get you revved-up, the new Motorsports degree at ECU is your dream come true. The Bachelor of Technology (Motorsports) program will equip you for a career in Motor Racing, Automotive Design & Development, Manufacturing, Team Management, Sport Marketing and Project Management. The course content and its delivery will be as exhilarating as the careers at the end of it. Not only will you learn the ins and outs of race cars and the motorsports industry, you will also experience racetrack action first-hand.

Adding to the range of existing engineering courses ECU offers, the School of Engineering and Mathematics has also introduced the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechatronics) course. Mechatronics engineering is the integration of electronics and computing with mechanical engineering, for developing intelligent machines and advanced manufacturing and processing systems.

Both courses are open for semester one applications now. For further information, please contact the School of Engineering and Mathematics on (61 8) 6304 5831 or email soem@ecu.edu.au .
