- Research at ECU in the health areas has more than doubled in the last two years. ECU is also home to Centres of Excellence in E-medicine and Alzheimer's research.
- ECU's unique educational alliance with technology and business consulting company IBM means that students have access to the ECU Advantage program, offering the latest wireless laptop technology for use through their courses and studies whilst at ECU.
- More than half of new higher education students are admitted via pathways other than directly for school.

- ECU is home to the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). For over 25 years this prestigious academy has been training world-class actors, dancers, musicians and production and design graduates. The Academy boasts world-class facilities, including the only court-style theatre in WA, as well as state-of-the art design facilities.
- Like all of ECU's campuses, the Joondalup campus is very accessible via public transport or via the Mitchell Freeway. It's only 25 minutes on the train from Perth, with a free CAT bus servicing a number of points on the campus and surounding Joondalup city centre.

ECU is the first Australian university to strike an educational alliance with global technology giant IBM. This two way partnership means students have access to the latest and best information technology. The IBM partnership also means ECU gains access to world-class research from IBM in the key areas of curriculum design and academic development.
All ECU campuses have significant wireless infrastructure providing students with the ability to study anywhere, anytime. Students can connect to the wireless network using wireless enabled laptops.
